To address the challenges in the management of medical devices, India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has introduced the "National Single Window System (NSWS)", where this innovative platform aims to streamline the regulatory processes associated with medical devices, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and compliance.

The NSWS is a digital platform developed by the CDSCO to facilitate the online submission, processing, and approval of applications related to medical devices.

As an alternative to the existing SUGAM portal and CDSCOMDonline portal, the NSWS portal was developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

It serves as a single point of access for manufacturers, importers, and other stakeholders involved in the medical device industry, simplifying the regulatory framework and enhancing the ease of doing business.

In addition to facilitating applications for registration certificates and licenses to manufacture or import medical devices, it also facilitates training, clinical investigations, tests, evaluations, and demonstrations.

The key benefits include

  1. Centralized Repository:

  2. Online Application Processing:

  3. Transparency and Accountability:

  4. Integration with Other Systems: eg: Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and the Medical Device Data Bank (MDDB).

  5. Compliance Management

The portal hosts applications for approvals from 31 Central Departments and 22 State Governments. These approvals can be applied through NSWS.
